Company Timeline

Illinois Lock Company, a leading lock manufacturer, was founded in 1930 on the near west side of Chicago supplying the Vending and Arcade Industries precision locks, and our high-security DUO lock, along with coin chutes.

In 1960 Illinois Lock Company relocated to its current location in Wheeling, Illinois, allowing for expansion.

In 1965 Illinois Lock was purchased by The Eastern Company. The Eastern Company is a 160-year old diverse manufacturer with eight divisions and seventeen global manufacturing locations.

The Illinois Lock Company continued to grow through product developments in the 1970's with the introduction of a full line of switch lock products.

ILC continued to expand in 1980’s with its solely owned manufacturing facility in Taiwan, and shortly after the facility (1990) in mainland China. These locations offered a manufacturing advantage, along with a global reach for our international customers later in 1980’s we acquired CCL Security Products (CCL). CCL, formerly a part of Corbin Cabinet Lock, added a full line of Padlocks, cabinet locks, and cam locks. CCL's best-known design is the original Sesamee Brand 4-wheel combination lock.

In 2006, The Royal Lock Corporation was acquired and integrated into the Illinois Lock Company structure adding key customers and new capabilities.

In 2008, The Eagle Lock Company was acquired and integrated into ILC, bring with its Military approved locks.

In 2017, Illinois Lock Company deployed a new business philosophy based on the 80/20 principle to help transform and focus the business on our end-markets and key customers.

In 2018, we re-branded ourselves under the ILC banner to better illustrate our position as an engineered access solutions leader.
